How Ellenberger replaced its old system with Odoo and made its processes more efficient.

For over 25 years, the ERP system at Ellenberger, a mid-sized mechanical engineering company, had been running – built up over decades, deeply embedded in every workflow, and long since pushed to its limits. The company manufactures machined components and supplies demanding customers from the automotive and commercial vehicle industry. The supply chain for partners such as STUR and Bosch requires precise planning, seamless traceability, and smooth data exchange – requirements that the old system simply could no longer meet.

Particularly critical: the connection to customers via VDA data exchange was completely missing. Without a standardized interface, digital communication within the supply chain was barely possible. At the same time, modern tools for production planning, quality assurance, and personnel management were lacking.

ODION implemented Odoo as the central ERP system, closing not only the obvious gaps but equipping the company with a fully digital operating model. At the heart of this was the development of a proprietary VDA interface module, enabling standardized data exchange with customers and suppliers directly from within Odoo.

What stands out in particular is the holistic approach: instead of isolated point solutions, a fully integrated system was created in which manufacturing, warehousing, purchasing, and quality assurance work seamlessly together. A modern digital QM manual lays the foundation for the company's upcoming re-certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001, as of 2026.
